OOTD

Hey guys! I wanted to share a quick outfit of the day with you all.  Kat and I are super excited for this weekend because we get to hang out together...in our favorite city...Nashville! We plan to take tons of pictures and blog about it. So check back for a super special post in a few days :) Now onto the outfit...

Okay, so I was in the mood to wear a scarf today, and lucky for me it was just the right weather. I paired a plain white v-neck with one of my favorite brown sweaters and my go-to dark wash jeans.  The scarf was my favorite part and main focus of the outfit. I love the bright colors, and it just screams Spring to me.  I put on some turquoise flats that matched the scarf, and I kept my jewelry minimal with my Fossil watch, some pearl bracelets, my everyday rings, and a pair of gold stud earrings.  As for hair, I kind of let it do it's own thing with some big loose curls.  :)

1. I love going on walks by myself or with a good friend.

4. I have pretty bad anxiety sometimes and tend to over analyze certain things.

5. I have recently got into riding my bike a lot. Its so much fun. I'll ride my bike to eat, or to a friends house. Saves some gas money for sure, its just good exercise, and you get to enjoy the weather!

SAMESTATE

Hi friends! So there is this really awesome band called, Samestate. They have amazing music and are an amazing group of guys. My boyfriend lives with the keys player and the drummer. I have become so close to both of the guys and am so thankful for their friendship! They are coming out with a new album/EP called, The Boxer & The Thief, and from what I've heard of it, it's absolutely awesome! In order for them to pay for it they have set up a kickstarter. It is very simple and easy to give. Trust me, if I can figure it out anyone can! I'm not telling you, you have to give money. I know money is tight; i'm a college student, but every penny counts! If you genuinely want to help, and end up enjoying their music, just give $10 and you receive a free cd! I mean, it's a $1 minimum pledge! So if you can I know my friends would really appreciate it! Here is a link to their kickstarter page, SAMESTATE! You can just go on there, and they have a video about them, and what they are about, so at least take a moment to watch them! :)

words to live by

Hello lovelies, it's almost Friday! Can I get a 'woop woop'?!

So I often find cute, wise, truthful, and lovely sayings like this one, and I thought I would start sharing them with you all. Even though it's just a little quote, I often find myself being really inspired by them.

It's often easy to forget that we are all unique, all special, and all amazing in our own way. That's the way God made us! Each of us are individual, and He made no two people alike.

I just want to share a simple reminder...

be yourself

As cliche as it sounds, those words couldn't be any more true. I don't care how old you are, at one point in your life, you have acted a certain way to try and fit in. I'm guilty of it. I mean hey, I still find myself doing it sometimes. But just remember-

Be who are you.
Be different.
Don't worry about other people and what they think.

As you go through the rest of our day, your week, your lifetime, just remember to be happy with yourself.

Love yourself and love who you are.

In the big scheme of things, this is what is important. This is what matters most.

And lastly...

"Don't be like the rest of them darling."

Yarn Wreath

Hey guys! Hope everyone is doing great. So as of about a week ago we still had our Christmas themed wreath hanging on our door.

Not okay.

So I decided to devote my Saturday night to making a new wreath for our front door.  I started with the intention to blog about it, and then kind of got lost in the wreath making fun, so I didn't really finish. However, I am still going to share what I have. So let's get started :)

Supplies:
  • Styrofoam or straw wreath(keep the plastic on!)
  • Any color/type of yarn
  • Felt
  • Ribbon for hanging
  • Glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Any other decorative pieces

To begin, hot glue the beginning of the yarn to your wreath.  This is optional, but it definitely helps with the wrapping process.

And now....prepare to wrap your life away.  This step definitely takes some time and patience.  The tighter your wrap your yarn, the better it looks in the end. Make sure to check that the yarn is covering the back of the wreath and everything is smooth.

So here's the part where I got in my own "craft world." I'll tell ya...once I get in that state of mind, there is no stopping me. I made some cute felt flowers-which I will put up a tutorial on how to make some at a later date. If you don't know how to make them, Pinterest can help you out with that. There are a lot of great tutorials out there. Next I went into my craft box and found some feathers and lace ribbon and just got creative!

I wrapped the lace ribbon around and hot glued the ends down.  I then did some trial and error with the placement of the feathers and flowers, but once I was satisfied, I glued them down. To finish off, I attached a ribbon and hung it on the door! I'm really happy with the way it turned out :)

My Cosmetic Run!

It's always a fun day when you can buy some new makeup! So I went to Ulta today to get some basics! My goal is to always find a great foundation and I think I finally did. I had been using a foundation by Tarte, which I would usually recommend, but I was just recently informed about the silicones in foundations and how bad they were for acne prone skin. So, if you are using a MAC product or even a cheap full coverage makeup: make sure it is not silicone based if you are prone to acne or break outs. Its also not good for your pores! Don't get me wrong, MAC is a great cosmetics line- my mom swears by it, but if you have sensitive skin, that's not the makeup for you. Your face is your third kidney, some makeup people would say. It needs to stay hydrated and fresh at all times!!! So, make sure you are using a oil-free, silicone-free foundation. There are plenty of great-coverage makeups out there!

So now after my rant on foundations, I also wanted to find a good basic eye shadow palette and I went for the Urban Decay NAKED basics. I wanted to also find a good every day lip! Which of course I wanted in a matte. Now let me go on about NYX's matte lipstick! One word LOVE!!!! Not pricey and is an amazing matte, with lots of different color options.  So, here is a look at some of the things I purchased, or that I am purchasing--- I can't purchase my foundation until next week (paycheck day), since it is $50(i know pricey), but it will be well-worth it, since it is a healthy foundation and lasts for 6-8 months!!!!!

Foundation: China Doll by Napoleon Perdis

NYX Matte Lipstick in color Tea Rose

Urban Decay NAKED basics

color names from R to L: venus, foxy, w.o.s, naked 2, faint, crave

I hope to come back giving great reviews on these makeup products I bought. So check in!!!!
