Middle Part

Hey hey everybody!

So middle parts have been in style for quite some time.  I always see a bunch of celebrities rockin' that middle part. The Kardashians/Jenners, Rachel Zoe, Whitney Port, and Audrina Patridge always come to my mind. Their hair always look ahmazing parted down the middle!

I've really been wanting to rock the middle part. (Plus my mom says I look older when I part my hair down the middle. And I'm all for that.)  I have tried it in the past, but I always feel awkward, so I end up flipping it over to the side. However, I decided to give it a good 2 weeks worth of trying.

I'm proud to say it's been about 4 weeks, and I'm still going strong. It has taken me a bit of time and effort to figure out how I like to style it and what I think looks best. Granite, I'm still not completely used to it, but I'm slowly figuring it out.

I like to style my middle part with some natural waves for a more bohemian/laid back look, or I'll glam it up with some big curls! (Check back for a tutorial on how to get big voluminous curls.) Sometimes if I don't want all my hair in my face, I'll braid back one side, or pin them both back. I also prefer to tease up the sides and back a little for some added volume.

The middle part is not going out of style any time soon, so if you are looking for something new and exciting to do with your hair, but you don't want to pay the money to get it cut or colored, I recommend trying the middle part. Or if you already wear a middle part, try a side part.

SO-

I challenge you to do something new and different with your hair :)
It's refreshing....I promise!

Let me know if any of you try the middle part or what your something new/different is! I'm always looking for new ways to spice up my hair, so I'd love to hear what ideas you all have. Remember, it may feel awkward, but that's completely normal. Give it an honest try! :)

Until next time...

Did I love enough?
Did I laugh enough?
Did I make a difference?"

Beachy Waves

Hey y'all! Hope you are having a super fun summer! I just recently discovered how to achieve the perfect beachy waves.

The best thing is...NO heat!

I've been trying to keep my use of the straightner/curling iron and washing of my hair to a minimum in effort to help keep my hair healthy.  Both of those can be so damaging, so even when you can go just one day out of the week without doing any of those, it helps!

To achieve those perfect beachy waves is easier than you think.

To begin, you will either want to shower at night or get your hair completely wet.

Then brush it out to get rid of any tangles you may have, and you can part your hair your usual way (I've been parting mine down the middle these days) or just brush it straight back.

Starting at the top of the back of your head, start french braiding. It by no means has to be a perfect french braid.  Actually, the less perfect it is, the messier waves and more textured look you will get.

Once you get it french braided, tie it off....and sleep tight :)

When you wake up in the morning, keep the braid in. I would go ahead and do your makeup for the day, just to let the braid stay in a little longer.

When you're ready, take the braid out.  Use a shaking motion with your hand to undo the braid.

Next, grab any mousse and hairspray you have laying around the house.  Any will work! I just use Aussie Mousse and Garnier Fructis hairspray (they were both pretty cheap at the drugstore).

Give your hair a few good shakes and flips and apply your mousse while scrunching your hair.
Grab your hairspray and do the same! Give a few sprits and scrunch.

I like for my hair to have a little volume, so I went ahead and gave it a little tease and I also took the hair on one side of my part and braided it back.

Once you are satisfied with the look of your waves, time to go out and show them off!

*I also wore my hair like this for second day hair and it looked even more messy and textured. I loved it!

Hope you give these beachy waves a try! I would love to know how it worked for you. As always, thanks for reading, and have an awesome rest of your day! :)

Date Night

For you ladies that have a boyfriend or are married, I've really been trying to figure out cute, fun, and affordable dates for those men to take us out on. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not the type of gal you have to take to a 5 star restaurant for a date. I love fun, sweet, simple, and affordable. If you're like me and have been with him for a number of years, you may fall back into the swing of things where sitting on the couch and watching tv is the usual! Well get up ladies, take a stand, and give him these ideas!!!!!

1. I have had this great desire to go to the zoo lately. I think the zoo is pretty affordable anywhere from 10$-$15 depending on what zoo you go to. I think its a fun little date! Get some ice cream and walk through and look at lions, elephants, giraffe, and just crazy animals you don't see on a daily basis. Its a great way to get outside with your man and let out your inner kid!

2. Bowling, I'm a terrible bowler, but I think thats the fun of it! Getting a little vulnerable and letting them see you completely fail at something! Also, if the guy knows what he's doing then maybe you guys could get close while he's trying to give you some tips! :) This also goes for some skating rink fun.

3. Go for a hike! I've recently discovered I love hiking-walking trails. I think it would be a perfect free date! Go for a little 3 mile hike-walk at your nearest park! Count the deer, go off trail a little bit! Its so much fun. I think going on an early hike on a weekend morning and then getting a great breakfast would be awesome! Its a fun active date where you get to enjoy the outdoors.

4. So now that I've listed really active dates, how about some romance! I know that picnics are cliché, but what guy does that anymore? Find a nice quaint place, heck it could be in your backyard, put a blanket down, a nice meal, strawberries for dessert. Watch the sun set together as you lay back on the blanket! IS THAT NOT ROMANTIC OR WHAT?!?

5. GAME NIGHT! Get out those old board games and make it a competition! Stay in and order pizza or your favorite chinese! Its good to have some good ole' competition, especially if you beat your man at his favorite game.

Well those are some dates I have really liked so far! If i think of some more I'll get back to ya. :)  Remember to hint these little dates to your special someone and you may just have a great day/night heading your way.

The Classic Snickerdoodle

Hey y'all! In case you didn't know....

I love to bake.

I was thinking it could be fun to share some of my favorite recipes with you guys!

So for today, we have the classic Snickerdoodle cookie.

I was studying for my anatomy class when I decided I needed a break. I was in the mood for something sweet, and I felt like baking.  After searching the internet, I found this Betty Crocker recipe for Snickerdoodles.  The great thing about this recipe is that it only calls for a few basic ingredients, that most of us have in our cupboard already.  They are super easy to make, and not time consuming at all.

I was so pleased with how they turned out. The recipe does say to bake them for 8-10 minutes; I recommend going with 8 minutes if you want them softer.  I did my first batch at 10 minutes, and they were a little too crispy for my liking.  But they are so so so delicious! I hope you give these yummy cookies a try :)

Life is fleeting...

It's Kat here. Right now I'm currently on my way back from a wedding in Charleston, SC and have been in the car for wayyyyy to long. But, as I'm taking a driving break and watching the sun go down on the interstate, great music playing, and windows rolled down, I realized something. I had been reminded something on this trip and I never ever want to forget it, so I'm writing down right here! Life is fleeting, we are only here for a short while and we should embrace every moment, be 100% in everything, love everyone 100%. Be thankful for every trial because we learn something from it and be thankful for those moments that are so happy that you cry. Remember to slow down and embrace those moments; thank God for it. Remember to tell those people close to you, you love them. There is so many things around us in this world that are evil and sad but at the same time there is soooooooo much beauty and it shines brighter than all of that! So embrace those beautiful moments never forget them, write them down.

Fifty and Sweet Summertime

Hello lovlies!
Before we get started, we wanted to let you guys know that this is our 50th post! 50th! That is crazy.  Thank you to everyone who reads and continually checks back with us.  We really appreciate it, and we hope you enjoy reading just as much as we enjoy posting. And if you have just stumbled upon us, we hope you keep checking back for new stuff. We have some fun summer posts coming out that you won't want to miss out on.

Anyways...

We do apologize for our lack of posting....the end of the semester and finals took over our lives.  But no worries now, because it is officially Summer! Yay!

We wanted to give you all a little update on our lives and how we will be spending our summer...just so y'all are "in the know" :)

Mo:
Hey guys! So here are some fun things I have planned for this Summer...and some not so fun...

  • Summer classes! Anatomy 1 and 2--like I mentioned....some not so fun. Trying to be positive about it!
  • Gym! I'm hoping to spend lots of time there and pump some iron. Haha. Not to mention a great de-stressor from my classes.
  • One Direction concert in June! I cannot wait to hang out with thousands of preteens and sing at the top of our lungs and dance to some 1D songs. (don't judge)
  • Summer weddings! And I get to be in one too! I absolutely love weddings.
  • Dance team practices and camps!
  • Hanging with my family, friends, and cat!
Not too many things planned, but I could not be happier to be home for a few months.

Kat:
Hey ya'll! I'm soooo excited about Summer and not having school.... my summer seems like it'll be pretty busy with a couple of trips and living in Middle Tennessee!

  • WORK- yes I know not exactly fun, but I have started a second job at an elementary school in Nashville and I will be a counselor for their summer school program, and I'm just very excited about all of it!
  • I'm actually driving up next weekend with a bunch of my girls to be bridesmaids in our best friend, Ariel's wedding in Charleston. Its going to be soooo much fun! Also a wedding in June with Mo!
  • Decorating my apartment is definitely on my summer to do-list!
  • Going to the beach with my family in June!
  • Finding out if my sisters baby is a boy or girl this summer!!! I'm so excited to be an aunt you guys!
  • Swimming and pool time is something i want to try and fit in between my busy work schedule!
  • Last but not least I want to cook and bake more this summer.

Well thats all folks for me! I'm excited for the summer, shorts, and flip flops. :)

So....

What do you guys have planned this summer? We would love to hear!

"Let us lay in the sun and count every beautiful thing we see."
