Life Lessons

Hey y'all! So it's been a crazy, crazy week. But through all this craziness, I learned some very important life lessons. Thought I would share...

1.) Don't drink any liquids by your computer. Yup, that's right. I spilled coffee all over my computer. And yup, it's toast. Very traumatic, very sad, and I still can't believe it happened. But in all seriousness, I am very upset it happened, but it's only a computer. Just an item. Just a thing. Things can be replaced, and that's what is most important to keep in mind.

2.) Don't let your phone battery get close to dead. While on my way home yesterday, my car broke down. I was thankfully able to call my parents, but I had 5% battery left. Got me thinking, what if my phone had died? I could have been stranded...a 19 year old girl stranded on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. My mom went out and bought me a car charger today, and I recommend purchasing one and keeping your phone as charged as possible. Having some type of pepper spray with you is always a great idea too. (I have the pink one!)

Although you could say my luck has not been good, I have learned that you can take situations and look at them 2 different ways-negatively or positively. Now obviously situations like those stink. There's no doubt about that. But the important thing is to be optimistic. It is always a goal of mine to be optimistic and look on the brighter side of things. Life throws you curveballs all the time-I mean hey, it's life!

So just remember, bad days happen. Things break...but they're just things! The most important life lesson I can share with you is to be thankful for each and every day and cherish the relationships you have with your loved ones.

While I was writing this post, this song on Pandora came on. It seemed appropriate. :)

"You can't live a positive life with a negative mind."

Inspirations

This is a short post; not much talking, but here are some pictures of my inspirations lately! They are either clothes/styles i'm looking forward to wearing, or have been inspiration for an outfit i've worn lately, maybe just little sayings that have made me smile, or a dream room or ride! Hope you enjoy! :)

&&&& there they are!!! Hope you guys like it, and maybe have some inspiration from my inspirations. I can tell I need to go by some flare/bell bottom. tehe.

Required: ALL BLACK

Sooooo..... I GOT A JOB! As we all know, college kids are broke, or at least the ones I know. So I got a job at a shoe store called, Off Broadway. My goal is not to spend all my money I make there in the store, but we'll see how that goes.. Well, one of the requirements is that I wear all back. Black top, black pants, sweaters, ect. I can though, wear any color shoes as long as they cover my toes and heels. I usually don't mind all black, but I just want to make sure I keep my style, while still keeping dress code. So I've came up with some ideas.

  • Cute Shoes!!!! ( I mean, I am working at a shoe store)
  • A bright lip!!!! (red, pick, burgundy, tangerine)
  • Accessories!!!!
  • Always look put together!!!! (No one wants to get advice on what shoe will look good with a certain outfit if I don't look put together, and Its also just very welcoming-I would think!)

So here's a couple of outfits I've picked out for work. I'll post some randomly. Some of you may struggle with this if you work somewhere that has a specific dress code, school uniforms, or you may just want to know what to wear with an all black outfit. So I thought I'd share!!!

Sorry, they are so blurry. :( Hope everyone has a great weekend, and Happy Easter!!!

OOTD

Happy Monday to you all! It is currently freezing outside and snowing...but hey, guess that just means even more time to wear boots and cute jackets.  We both had such a lovely weekend, and we got to see each other! A quick OOTD from sunday for you all...first is Kat's then Mo's. Enjoy and have a lovely day :)

I had a feeling this would happen.... I was ready for spring, but spring just wasn't ready for me, so I improvised. I wore a top I got from Tjmax years ago, that was originally from American Eagle-clearance $5. A black long flowy cardigan taken/stolen from my moms closet. Necklace also from Tjmax-$10. A skirt from Tjmax- also somewhere around $12 last summer. Marc Jacobs watch- gift. Shoes are Steve Madden- 50% off at $25!!! If I could sum up how what style I was going for with this outfit it would have to be boho chic. Love it.

First off is the adorable top I got from the Lauren Conrad section in Kohls. Absolutely love it. She has so much cute stuff out right now-go check it out! Since it was a little chilly outside, I decided to pair it with a black leather jacket.  I then threw on some dark wash denim jeans to make it a little more casual, and I finished it off with my pair of black riding boots.  Super cute, yet still casual.

Its the Small Things

So, it's Kat here, I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break. Its back on "the grind" as some would say, for me.  I've realized as soon as spring break is over in college its go go go until summer! But... thats okay! Because its the small things that get you through it. For example, this blog. I LOVE that after this stressful day, I can just hide myself like I am now and just talk! I have also had some other small things that have been getting me through this stressful week!

  • Al Green, i just love his music.
  • Tumblr - its something new i've been trying and have got some inspiration from
  • A new top from Goodwill that i found while hanging out with Mo. I loved rocking it my first day back to school.
  • This beautiful weather we've been having.
  • Getting to talk to my girl Mo via text all day er day!
When it feels like school, work, or other things are just too much to handle, remember the small things and be so very thankful for them! Hope everyone has a fab week!

Spring Break '13

So I'm sitting here outside in 70 degree weather, drinking a cup of coffee out of my favorite "M" cup, listening to The Lumineers, and thinking about this past week.

One word to describe my Spring Break.....Bliss.  My heart is full of joy and happiness. I love being home.

My Spring Break in a nutshell:

-afternoon coffee with my mom
-helping a good friend/teammate with her high school dance team at a competition
-chillaxin' with my cat
-catching up on homework and papers
-spending time with my sweet mother (and father who is not pictured)
-goodwill shopping
-disney pandora radio station (new favorite)
-spending pretty much every day with Kat
-Starbucks-the grand opening was this week (we now have a Starbucks. This is a huge deal, people!)

I am so thankful for the time I was able to spend with the people I love most. I feel refueled and ready to conquer the rest of the semester!

Have a beautiful rest of your day :)
