Friday Loves

Hi guys! Happy Friday to you all! You have conquered another week, congratulations! Sorry for not posting our loves last Friday...we were both getting all settled into college. But we have some exciting things to share (as always) with you all.

Chalkboard Art: If you all remember, Mo mentioned the chalkboard wall that is in her house, and she and her roomies have gotten much use from it. Mo purchased this piece, which was originally a gold and white abstract design, for about $12 from TJMaxx. She decided she wasn't crazy about it, so she painted it with the leftover chalkboard paint. The piece looks so much cuter as a chalkboard and is more versatile. Chalkboard paint is such an easy, and fairly inexpensive, way to liven up any piece of furniture, wall, or accessory. Hands down, we love this stuff.
And we obviously love this quote.

Drink: Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks. Can we just say how super excited we are because we both have a Starbucks that is only 5 minutes away from us and not an hour?! And we definitely have been taking advantage of it. The Chai Tea K-Cups are very good, however, nothing beats a real Starbucks!

Scent: Lavender. Mo has been wanting a lavender candle for months, and her lovely mother surprised her with one. This particular candle is from a candle shop in the mall in our hometown, but you can find these anywhere. It did not come decorated, Mo just had some time on her hands, and a hot glue gun...lol. We absolutely love anything lavender-scented because it is so relaxing and delicate.

Fast food: As you know Kat is attending Middle Tennessee State and they have a new student union center that is absolutely amazing! It has an awesome potato bar, salad bar, mexican restaurant, Popeye's, Dunkin' Donuts, and Kat's favorite, PANDA EXPRESS!

Purchase: The thing to do around "the Boro" is ride bikes. So, of course Kat purchased an awesome red and gold vintage Shwinn! Its absolutely lovely! Its so much fun to get a group of people out riding bikes around town. (& good exercise too)

Guilty Pleasure: After a stressful day of classes and studying its good to sit back, take a break, and have some Ben & Jerry's! Cherry Garcia being Kat's favorite!!!

Nail of the Day

Hello everybody! I wanted to stop by and share a quick nail of the day.

I must say, living with 2 other girls definitely has its perks! I mean check out this nail polish stock we have going on. (And this isn't even half of it!)

I didn't realize how difficult it would be to pick out a color, but I finally the perfect blue color!

I mean, seriously, it's gorgeous! I did two coats and that was plenty enough.

This is Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 130 Blue Me Away! How cute is the name, too?! It is a super fun color, and I have already gotten compliments on my nails. So I definitely recommend this color if you are looking for a bright, vibrant blue color.

Hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week!

Bright Eyes

For most of you school has already started or is getting ready to begin. You know what that means...late nights and early mornings. Coffee is wonderful and all, but it won't last you all day.

One of my all-time favorite beauty tricks is to make my eyes appear brighter and bigger to hide the fact that I am exhausted and sleep deprived. Here are a few ways to make your eyes seem more awake. Now you don't have to use all of these steps all at once, (however you are more than welcome to) so play around and see which ones work best for your eyes.

1. White Eyeliner
Take a white eyeliner and line your water line and upper water line (also known as your tightline). By doing this, your eyes instantly look bigger! Such an awesome trick. Any white eyeliner will do. These are few I would recommend:

-NYX Jumbo Eye pencil in the color Milk. This has a very creamy consistency, it is very easy to apply, and it is only cost $4.50! Not bad at all!

-Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in the color Yeyo. It is very smooth and really does glide right on. (Just like the name says!) This is a little more on the pricey side with it being about $19, but I think you get what you pay for.

-I am currently using The Maybelline New York Unstoppable Eye Pencil in the color Fluffy Cloud. It's a great drugstore option!

*Try placing a little white eyeliner in the inner corner of your eye. It immediately brightens your eyes.

2.) Curly Lashes
Alright, let's be honest, how many of you curl your eyelashes? Hopefully you answered yes, but if you didn't, it's an easy fix. You might not think curling your lashes makes that much of a difference, but it does. Trust me! I currently use an eyelash curler by Revlon, but some great brands to check out are Chanel and Shu Uemura. I have heard great things about both of those brand's eyelash curlers!

*If you have hard to curl lashes, try applying one coat of waterproof mascara and then curl your lashes. You can then apply your regular mascara after that.

3.) Mascara
If you don't have a whole lot of time to get ready in the morning, applying just one coat of mascara can make the worlds of a difference! Even if it's the only makeup you are wearing for the day, it is amazing what mascara does for your eyes.

4.) Crease Color
This might be my favorite 'Eye Brightening' trick of all time. First you need to find a good light brown color that works for your skin tone. I really love Naked from the Urban Decay Naked Palette. All you do is pick up a little bit of the brown shadow on your eyeshadow brush and place it in the crease of your eye. Start from the outside of your eye crease and gently drag it to the inside. This gives your eyes more dimension, thus making them appear bigger.

These are just a few tricks I like to use. Mind you, I am not a makeup artist or beauty expert, but I do use all these methods pretty much every single day. And they do work! If you try out any of these tricks, let me know how it works for you! If you have any questions about products or anything like that, feel free to ask :)

Just to stop by!

It's Kat here! I know I haven't been around much and posting, but it's been a hectic last couple of weeks. I've moved into my dorm at Middle Tennessee State on Saturday! I have so many emotions flowing through my mind right now. For now, I don't have a roommate and luckily I have a handicap room. I have so much space and closet that fits all my clothes! :) I am so excited to decorate and kind of make the room my own.(unless a roommate shows up) I just thought I could share some pictures of what I've done to the room so far. It's only been a day, so things will definitely be added and moved around.
P.s. This was done through my blogger app on my phone so it may not look as good as always!

A New Chapter

Hello lovlies! We are so sorry for the lack of posts this week. Things have been extremely busy and some big changes are happening in our lives. As you know, it's that time of year... school time! Kat is starting her freshman year at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in Murfreesboro, and Mo is going into her sophomore year at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville.

We are both very excited to start this new adventure in our lives. However, it will be weird and sad not to be able to see each other every single day. But that is one of the reasons we started this blog in the first place. We both thought it would be a lovely way to have something to connect over even though we are miles away from each other.

We know things will get very busy and hectic, but we are going to try our hardest to post consistently. Mo is on the dance team at TN TECH, and Kat is going to train to become a YoungLife Leader down in Murfreesboro. So the two of us will be occupied with those things, and of course, keeping up with one of the most important thing...grades! But like we say, "This is a blog about the things we love, the things that love us, and the lives we both live," and that is exactly what we want to continue to share with you all. Even though we aren't going to be able to see each other every day, and we won't be living in the same town, we still want to show you all what is happening in our lives and what we are loving

So we hope you all continue to check back for posts, and we inspire you all to try some of the things we blog about. We love sharing the things we are excited about and items we are, well, loving! We really do appreciate all of you who take the time and read our posts. It means so much to the both of us, and to hear someone say they liked one of the posts we did, makes us so so so happy!

We hope you have an awesome weekend, and bare with us while we try to get into the swing of things :)

Friday Loves

Is it Friday already? My goodness where has this week gone?! Well we sure do love our Fridays, and we have some awesome things to share this week.

Restaurant: Burger Up. Mo ate at this super cool restaurant this past weekend, and oh my goodness was it delicious. The entire place has a very cool vibe to it, and the food is amazing. Mo ordered a turkey burger and it came with fries which they serve with their homemade ketchup. If anyone is ever in the Nashville area, you should definitely check out this place!

Place: Trader Joes. A Trader Joes finally opened in a town close to ours! This is a big deal for us. For those of you who don't know what Trader Joes is, it is basically just a grocery store that sells specialty foods. There are a lot of healthy choices, and fresh foods available. Mo's family used to shop there all the time back when they lived in California, so they were very very excited to have one open near their town.

Place: Kat has been away from blogging this week because she went on a cruise to the Bahamas! It was so much fun, but just weird being away from the iPhone and computer! The islands she visited were absolutely beautiful and the culture is just crazy. Kat's favorite island she visited was Nassau. It had the bluest waters, whitest sand, and fabulous shopping!

One of my best friends and I in the white sand.

Snack: Of course our snack is going to be from Trader Joes! These dark chocolate covered pretzels are simply amazing. If you love dark chocolate, you must try these. The sweetness from the chocolate mixed with the saltiness of the pretzel makes for a yummy explosion in your mouth. We love these.

Purchase: While Katherine was in the Bahamas she also had tax and duty free shopping so she took advantage to that. She had been wanting a Marc Jacobs watch since Christmas, and found one for a wonderful price compared to the prices here in the U.S.

Apparently we had quite a lot of food loves this week. But hey, there is nothing wrong with that. We hope everyone enjoys their wonderful weekend! College is about to start back and things are going to be hectic!

Brownie Love

Hello all! I've been in a baking mood lately (well I'm always in a baking mood), and I thought it would be perfect to show y'all how to make some of the best brownies I have ever had in my life. Now I am no pro at baking, but it something I really love to do. This recipe is simple and fast, and the outcome is heavenly. This is the original recipe, but my mom and I changed a thing or two on the recipe to make them even more delicious! With that said, let's begin!

You will need:

  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate*
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon brewed espresso (optional)**
  • 1/4 teaspoon plus 1/8 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
*The original recipe calls for bittersweet chocolate, but found it was not sweet enough for our liking. So we substituted semi-sweet instead.
**I usually just brew up a cup of coffee in the Keurig and then finish drinking the cup with a warm, moist brownie that has just come out of the oven.

Oh, and one more ingredient...your magic apron! :)

First thing you will want to do is preheat your oven to 350 F and arrange a rack in the middle. Then line an 8x8 inch glass baking dish with aluminum foil.

Next, combine the chocolate and butter in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat and stir frequently. Once it is all melted together, remove the pan from the heat and let it cool to room temperature.

Then combine the eggs, sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, espresso (if you are using it), and salt in a large bowl and mix together just until evenly incorporated.

Add the cooled chocolate and mix until uniform in color. Then add the flour and stir until it is all mixed together. (Be careful not to "over-mix" your batter.) Transfer your batter to your lined baking dish and bake for about 25-30 minutes. A great way to tell if the brownies are finished is by sticking a toothpick in the center and if it comes out clean, they are done!

Let them cool completely before cutting them....and then grab a tall glass of milk or a hot cup of coffee and ENJOY these lovely tasting brownies!

Hope you all make these brownies, and let me know how they turn out if you do! See you tomorrow for our Friday Loves!

Nail of the Day!

Hello all! Hope you are having a fantastic week so far. I wanted to share with you a super quick nail of the day because I absolutely love the color I used. It is a beautiful pink color with some coral undertones. This polish is a perfect summer color because it is so bright and fun, but I feel like it will transition well into Fall. (But, I'm one who will wear whatever color polish I want no matter what season it is.)

As you can see, it is an absolutely beautiful color! It is by the brand Essie and the name is "e-nuf is e-nuf." Now I'm not crazy about spending $8 on a nail polish, however, I feel like you do get what you pay for. The color pay off is great, and you really only need one coat. Another thing I love about Essie polishes is that they do dry fairly quick. It never fails, I paint my nails and then I have somewhere to go or something to do, and my nails get all messed up. Here is what it looks likes on my nails. It is definitely my go-to color.

Hope you all enjoyed this quick Nail of the Day/mini review of this nail polish. I was at TJMAxx yesterday, and they actually had a pretty good selection of Essie nail polishes for only $3. The bottles were slightly smaller, but hey, you can't be $3 for an awesome quality nail polish!
There will quite possibly be a baking post in the near future, so check back for that :) Have an awesome rest of your day! And until next time....

Friday Loves

Hi y'all! Even though it's rainy and a little gloomy here today, it is still a Happy Friday! We are so excited to share our loves with you all this week.

TV Show: Boy Meets World. If this show does not remind you of the 90's, then I don't know what does! ABC Family has been airing this show every morning, and it has been quite wonderful to watch this and enjoy a nice cup of morning coffee.

And of course, The Olympics!! We love love love the Olympics and seeing all of these amazing athletes compete. We know each and every one of them has put their whole heart into training and competing, and they sure have made our country proud. So inspiring!!

Purchase: Kat picked up this mini Keurig this week! I mean how adorable is this?! It will be perfect for the dorm room because it is smaller so it won't take up as much space. Also, whenever you need a little boost in the morning, just pop in a K-Cup and you are ready to go. And how about the lovely yellow color....so cute!

Music: We have both been enjoying some new/old tunes this week! Take a listen.
Mo cannot stop listening to the song "Ho Hey" by The Lumineers. This song has such a cool vibe to it, and an awesome sound.
Kat has been listening to some old school Seryn. It's always amazing to go back and listen to them after a long time. This song has a refreshing sound with such good lyrics. The song is "We Will All Be Changed."
App: We have two apps we have been loving this week!
The first one is PicFx. This is another photo editing app that allows you to put some awesome affects on your pics. There are so many different options, and you can get very creative with it! Here is a photo Mo edited using the app.
The next app is SongPop. It definitely is similar to the 'Words with Friends' and 'Hanging with Friends' games that were very popular. Basically what you do is pick a music genre and it plays a little snipit of a song and you have to guess the right song or artist. This goes back and forth between you and your opponent for a couple of rounds until there is a winner! It's not as complicated as it sounds, and it is way more fun too :) Check it out!
Well that concludes our Friday Loves for this week! We hope you have a blessed weekend! The quote this week comes from a delicious piece of Dove dark chocolate.

Its a Sock Bun!

My favorite quick and easy, go-to hair do is the sock bun! It's perfect for any occasion! I absolutely love it! Whether your ready to get dressed up for a night with your girls, a date, or rushing out the door for the day, the sock bun is my go-to style when I don't know what to do with my hair! Here is step-by-step on how to get this fabulous look!

Your Materials: A couple of bobby pins (if needed)
                          A hair tie
A long sock with the toe cut out of it

1. You first need to roll your sock up like a donut as so:
It should look like this :)
2. After you are finished rolling your sock bun you need to put your hair up in a high pony tail.

3. You then will pull the sock bun through your pony tail so that it is covering your hair tie. Don't leave any hairs out! :)

3. Once you have done this you will then bring the sock up to the end of your pony tail, but make sure the ends of your hair are still sticking out!

3. Then you will begin tucking your ends within the sock bun like so:

**This is the trickiest part. Try to make sure you evenly disperse your hair under the sock.
4. Now the fun part! You can now start twisting your hair down toward your head while still sticking your hair within the sock bun. You will see it start to transform!

Just keep doing this motion! You're almost there. :)
This should be your finished product!!!

5. If your bun seems to be too large or what Mo and I like to call "atomic mushroom cloud-ish" for you, You can just add some bobby's in there to tighten it up!

I really hope you have enjoyed this little go-to hair style! It is my absolute favorite. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't look exactly like you want it the first time. It takes a couple of tries to get the hang of it. Hope everyone enjoys the weekend, relax and have a laugh or two... or three! :)
